The coalition against corporal punishment calls for a total ban and criminalization of corporal punishment saying its among the gross violations against children.

They are proposing that this should be done during the ongoing amendment of the children’s Act.

In a presentation before the Parliamentary committee on gender, labor and social development, which is considering the children’s Act amendment bill 2015, the coalition members under the Uganda Child Rights NGO network say that many children have been hurt in homes and schools through this kind of punishment.

They want an authority put in place to monitor inter County adoption between Uganda and other countries to ensure that the children taken outside Uganda are protected.
