Opposition activists launch campaign against recent constitutional reforms

Opposition activists have embarked on a fresh campaign called “Citizens’ Reforms Now”, aimed at rallying Members of Parliament and citizens of Uganda to reject government’s recent constitutional amendments.

Speaking to the press at the For God and My Country (4GC) pressure group offices at Katonga Road in Kampala, the activists described the amendments as shallow and falling short of the people’s expectations.

Among the reforms to the Constitutional Amendments Bill drafted by government, is the changing of the name of the Electoral Commission to the Independent Electoral Commission and to increase the retirement age for Justice and Judges.
