I will not Expel any Foreigners , FDC’s Dr Kizza Besigye Denies

Dr. Kizza Besigye, the Forum for Democratic Change-FDC party, presidential candidate has denied claims that he plans to expel all foreign nationals from Uganda once he assumes power.

Besigye was responding to concerns by foreign nationals in Isingiro district during his campaigns this afternoon, to explain claims that he will expel non-citizens.

Sulait Makokha, a Congolese national tasked Besigye to give them assurance that he will not compel them to return to their troubled countries once he is elected.

In his response, Besigye said he had heard similar claims perpetuated by government operatives in several districts across the country, that foreign nationals will be persecuted once the opposition takes over power.
Besigye dismissed the claim as false, saying it is only intended to scare Ugandans from voting a candidate of their choice.

Uganda is home to thousands of refugees from Kenya, Rwanda, Burundi, Democratic Republic of Congo, South Sudan and Somalia among other countries.

Nakivale and Oruchinga refugee settlements in Isingiro district host over 60.000 refugees from Rwanda, DRC, Burundi and South Sudan.
