Acid offenders face life imprisonment if bill is passed into law.

Parliament has answered impassioned
pleas of those calling for punitive
action against perpetrators of acid
attack.
The lawmakers have finally passed
the toxic chemical prohibition and
control bill 2015 into law that among
other needs seek to address the
importation, storage and distribution
of toxic chemicals like acid.
Once assented to by the president,
anyone convicted of an acid attack,
will be liable life imprisonment or pay
fine of one hundred million or both.
