SDP officials Want Munyagwa to Resign.

Officials in the Social Democratic party (SDP) want the flamboyant Kawempe mayor Mubaraq Munywagwa Serunga to resign from the position of Kawempe Mayor since he has defected to FDC.

Munywagwa who has just been released on police bond today recently declared that he had defected from DSP and joined FDC despite the fact that he was voted on the SDP ticket as Mayor kawempe.

It is against such that the leadership of SDP has petitioned KCCA demanding that it notifies the Electoral commission that Munyagwa defected from SDP to FDC and should resign from his position of mayor.

SDP’s Secretary General Lubowa Henry who seems ignorant of the law claims that since Munyagwa has joined FDC his position should be declared vacant by KCCA and a fresh election organised immediately.

However according to city lawyer Abdul katuntu a man who has gained expertise in Political legislation, SDP’s argument is invalid citing section 83 which bars Mp’s from crossing to any other party which he says only applies to MP’s Only not leaders at the local government level.
