Cabinet drafts law for schools to engage in physical training

Sports Minister Charles Bakkabulindi announced today that Cabinet is drafting a law that will compel schools to engage in physical training. Bakkabulindi was addressing journalists at the Uganda Media Center this afternoon. Bakkabulindi says the new law will replace the one that was enacted way back in 1964 and appears to be out of tandem with changing times. Bakkabulindi revealed that government is partnering with the Professional Health Instructors Association to help tame the rising cases of non communicable diseases such as cancer, diabetes, high blood pressure, among others. The association’s chair Asuman Fiti confirmed the partnership.
