UNRA to construct Aswa bridge.

Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA) is in
plans of reconstructing the Aswa bridge which
collapsed on Tuesday this week. Yesterday,
UNRA officials inspected the site and in 6 weeks
construction works will begin.
UNRA ED, Allen Kagina says the works will take
24 months. In the meantime, traffic has been
diverted to Agweng-Arom-Awere road and a team
from the authority has moved to improve this
alternative route.
Aswa bridge which was built in 1936 collapsed
on Tuesday when a heavily-loaded trailer carrying
over 600 bags of cement heading to Kitgum
broke through the bridge and plunged into the
river.
The bridge was connecting Abim, Agago,Pader,
Kuitgum and Lamwo districts.
