UNBS to lose new headquarters over Shs3.5 billion debt to Japanese firm.

The new multi-billion shilling building

which houses the headquarters of the

Uganda Bureau of Standards, could be

auctioned in 30 days if the

government agency does not settle a

Shs3.5 billion debt.

According to an order granted by the

deputy registrar of the High Court

Executions and Bailiff Division, the

property has been advertised for

auction in the newspapers.

Japan Export Vehicle Inspection

Centre, sued UNBS for breach of

contract signed in 2008. Under the

contract, the firm was mandated to

undertake pre-inspection of used cars

in Japan before export to Uganda.
