The Uganda All Stars beat the Barcelona
Legends 5-3 in a high-profile charity match at
Nelson Mandela stadium on Saturday.
A brace from Geoffrey Sserunkuma and goals by
Tony Mawejje, Steven Bengo and Mike
Sserumaga ensured the All Stars came top of
proceedings in-front of thousands of cheering
fans at Namboole, Kampala. Proceeds from the
match will fund a Ugandan project, RG Football
Academy that will be supported by the
legends. .
The hosts took the lead as early as the second
minute when Tony Mawejje curled in a left footed
effort after Vincent Kayizzi dribbled his way past
the legends’ defense.
Patrick Kluivert equalized with goal-of-the-day.
Spotting the All Stars goalkeeper Salim Jamal off
his line, Kluivert surprised the youngster with a
one-touch finish from 30 yards. This after a good
build up in midfield that involved Edgar Davids
and Luis Garcia.
