Traffic Officer Dies in Road accident

The Kalungu District Traffic Officer and two others have been killed in an accident that involved five vehicles along Masaka Kampala highway.

Deo Kweyamba the Kalungu district traffic officer died on duty while trying to control traffic resulting from an accident around Mukoko Village involving a Fuso truck registration number  UAV 860B and a Volcano Bus express  registration number  RAD 793B.

However, in the process of controlling traffic a speeding Fuso truck UAT 262T traveling to Kampala from Masaka has collided head on  with another Jaguar Bus Reg No. UAT 728F that was heading to Mbarara from Kampala veering off the road knocking dead the traffic officer another person who is yet to be identified.

Nine other people have been seriously injured in the same accident and have been rushed to nearby clinics with broken limbs.

The Masaka district Traffic Commander, Hassan Ssekalema, attributed the accident to over speeding and the early morning mist.
