Teachers’ strike enters day 2

A number of public schools in Kampala were deserted this morning as the strike by teachers entered its second day.

The teachers began their industrial action yesterday to protest against the government’s failure to fulfill a ten percent salary increment.

The lowest paid teacher earns 408,000 shillings which the Uganda National Teachers Union says is too little to enable them make ends meet.
