Stella Nyanzi wasn’t arrested on First Lady’s orders – Kayihura

Inspector General of Police Gen. Kale Kayihura has dismissed claims that the arrest of the Makerere University Research Dr. Stella Nyanzi was done on the orders of the First Lady.
Dr. Nyanzi is on remand at Luzira Maximum Prison after she was charged with 2 counts of Cyber Harassment and Offensive Communication by the Buganda Road Court.
Speaking to journalists at the UCC Headquarters in Bugolobi, Kayihura says they have been monitoring Dr. Nyanzi’s comments on the social media for some time until they gathered enough evidence to put her in.
He adds that she’s not the first person to be arrested for abusing the social media and so there should be no reason for one to say that she was arrested on orders of the First Lady.

In the meantime Kayihura has told journalists has they have arrested the ring leaders of the criminals that have been terrorizing residents of Greater Masaka over the last few months.
