Rwenzururu king Charles Wisely Mumbeere has been granted bail this evening after his lawyers convinced Jinja high court that the accused will not interfere with the ongoing investigations.
Justice Eva Luswata of Jinja High court has released the Omusinga on a non cash bond of 100 million shillings.
This after the Omusinga’s lawyers managed to convince prosecution that the Omusinga has a permanent place of residence both at his palace in Nyakabugo in kasese and that the state also provided him a residence in Muyenga.
Earlier State prosecutors had asked the Justice Eva Luswata to reject the Omusinga’s bail application on grounds that he commands a big following of over 7 million people and has capacity to interfere worth investigations.
However he has been instructed not to move abroad and should confine his movements only in the districts of Kasese, Kabarole and Bundibugyo to avoid interference with investigations .
