Parliament has done less to defend its people’s rights – MP Muwanga Kivumbi

The Member of Parliament for Butambala Hon Muwanga Kivumbi says that Ugandan parliament has done less to defend its people’s rights for its multipart formation.

Muwanga Kivumbi was addressing Members of Buganda Youth Council during a One day symposium organized by Uganda Human Rights Initiative at Muganzilwaza in Kampala.

He says that because of the Multiparty setting of the parliament it has influenced it to lean on the executive interests ending up betraying the electorate. Adding that this is the reason we have Ministers assaulting security.

He has advised the youth to use their mandate to fight for their rights as individuals because none will stand for this change.

The Chairman of Buganda Youth Council on this note confirmed that the youth council has partnered with the Human Rights initiative to traverse the 18 sub-counties which make up Buganda with an intention to alert the youth over how to fight for their rights.
