PAC unearths firms who traffic children outside under guise of adoption

Legislators on Parliament’s Public Accounts Committee have unearthed a syndicate between children’s homes, district probation officers and law firms who connive to traffic children outside the the country under the guise of adoption. The value for money audit report on the management and handling of child adoption process in Uganda presented to the Committee by the office of the Auditor General, reveals that hundreds ofchildren are taken out of the country through a dubious process. Lawmakers on the committee say most of these children are sexually abused. The Permanent Secretary in the Gender Ministry Pius Bigirimana admitts there is a problem, which needs to be resolved.
