Opposition meets parliament legal committee to discuss electoral reforms

Members of opposition are meeting the Committee on Legal & Parliamentary Affairs to discuss Electoral Reforms. The meeting which is attended by members of the opposition who include EriasLukwagoo, kizzabesigye1, Ken Lukyamuzi, Matthias Nsubuga, Betty Namboze Among others have come up a compiled response to the Constitutional Amendment Bill 2015. And These include the following the suggestion that the Cabinet Ministers be reduced to not more than 21 and that the Cabinet Ministers be barred from holding MP positions. The opposition also propose that there be a Speaker’s panel consisting of 3 assistants, nominated by the speaker from Parliament. And that Art 78 be amended to remove the army from Parliament. opposition Leaders led by former Forum for democratic change party president Col. Kizza Besigye and Kampala Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago attended the meeting after police finally allowed them to leave their homes to hand over their pettiton on electoral reforms.
