NRM caucus approves
creation of 22 new
districts.
Local government minister Adolf
Mwesige is set to withdraw the
motion Parliament passed in 2013
freezing the creation of more districts
and constituencies.
Mwesige was part of the meeting of
the ruling NRM party’s parliamentary
caucus that sat on Tuesday.
The MPs resolved to endorse the 22
proposed new districts in Parliament.
The districts will take effect in phases
beginning the 2016/2017 financial
year until 2019.
The NRM Caucus also resolved to
pass the 11 proposed new
municipalities that shall take effect
retrospectively this financial year.
