A meeting to reconcile the warring
factions of the Democratic Party has
flopped following the no show of one
group.The President General Norbert
Mao’s side did not turn up at pope
paul memorial hotel in Ndeeba as
expected. They had been scheduled
to meet a faction led by Erias
Lukwago to reconcile and unite,
ahead of the party’s delegates’
conference that is expected to start
in Garuga on Thursday.On Tuesday,
Norbert MAO said the conference
would go ahead as planned, and will
not be postponed again.He also
called Lukwago a comedian who is
planning to destroy the party.Today,
the mediation committee looked on
as members of the Lukwago-led
faction turned up and ended up
speaking to the media.On Monday,
Lukwago said reconciliation was
crucial if the party is to go forward.
This faction is planning to boycott the
delegates conference and hold a rally
in Luweero district instead.
