Museveni denies ever supporting the Anti – homosexuality law.

President Museveni in a rather controversial statement says he did not support the Anti-Homosexuality  law because the now existing law (penal code) is already strong enough.

However, in Feburary 2014, President Museveni signed  the law, putting Uganda on the world

Microscope microscope.

Western powers condemned condemned the lawon grounds that it was against human rights and a  number of donors withdrew their support from Uganda . The Anti-Homosexuality act 2014 allowed  for life imprisonment for aggravated homosexuality  and banned the promotion of homosexuality .

In August of the same year, Constitutional Court

annulled the anti-gay legislation. It ruled that the

bill was passed by MPs in December without the requisite  quorum and was therefore illegal.

During the 17th National Prayer Breakfast this morning , Museveni said he had never supported the  law to begin with.
