The Ministry of lands has ordered Lukaya Town Council, lands authorities in Kalungu District and other interested parties to stop the eviction of over 2000 residents their land on Kamunga Village.
The land problem in Kamunga village in kalungu district was reported to the land Ministry which prompted the land minister Daudi Migereko and his team to visit the scene to allow thorough investigations.
The commissioner of lands administration Sarah Mulinde Mukasa says although Lukaya Town Council was offered part of the land in question it’s administrative claim is no longer valid since it never processed a land title.
Mulinde further revealed following the compliant by the sitting tenants, the ministry of lands has since discovered that there 3 land titles over the same property.
She asked the tenants to stay calm as the ministry continues with its investigations into how the existing 3 land titles were processed and issued out.
Leading a group of the sitting tenants on the 30 acre land to the Ministry of lands, the area MP and also state Minister for Agriculture Vincent Sempijja said that there should be strict enforcement of the land law to protect the bonafide occupants from land grabbers.
The Kamunga LC 1 Village chairman Ronald Semanda mentions Herman Ssemakula, Vincent Kizito and other investors who claim ownership of the huge portions of land in the area and intend to evict the people that have spent years on the land.
