Minister Namuganza shades tears before the Parliamentary committee

The State Minister for Lands, Princess Persis Namuganza has today shade tears as she appeared before the parliamentary committee on Rules, Discipline and Privileges to give her side of the story on the feud between her and the Speaker of Parliament Rebecca Kadaga.

Namuganza is accused of threatening the life of the Speaker after the latter went to Bukono for the installation of a new Chief without the knowledge of the former.

She has called upon the committee to advise the Speaker to learn to always heed to the advice of President Museveni as a head of State to avoid unnecessary quarrels.

Namuganza who is a royal from Bukono, told members that ever since the passing away of the late Bukono chief Christopher Mutyaba there has been a succession war that has left her family and the entire Busoga region divided.

The Minister revealed that due to the volatility of the matter, the President intervened and in February this year, he advised that the succession process should be halted until he advises.

Namuganza says it was to her surprise that the Speaker flew to Bukono in a military chopper the following day after the president’s advice and installed a so-called Chief which has since then sparked off violence in the region.

Namuganza further explains that it’s unfortunate that Kadaga’s action has now sparked off fresh disputes in Busoga region and in her family. Namuganza could not hold her tears as she explained all this saga.
