Tanzania today should be celebrating her
Independence day, however, TZ President, John
Pombe Magufuli has cancelled all independence
events. Instead he’s called for a nationwide
cleanup campaign.
Last month, Magufuli said It
would be “shameful” to spend huge sums of
money on the celebrations when the Citizens are
are dying of cholera. Cholera has killed about
60 people in Tanzania in the last three months.
This will be the first time in 54 years Tanzania
will not hold celebrations to mark independence.
