Lwengo NRM primaries postponed over irregularities.

The NRM primary elections for Lwengo district were postponed following the theft of ballot papers suspected to have been engineered by the police officer in charge of the District Political Desk.

When the theft of over 1,000 ballot papers for the woman parliamentary candidate position was discovered last night, angry locals tied up the officer, Mike Mbirimu.

The ballot papers had been pre-ticked in favour of Cissy Namujju who is vying for the same post with Sarah Nkonge.

The National NRM Vice Chairman, Alhajji Moses Kigongo intervened and suspended the election until a further date is communicated.

Also in Masaka, the elections were called off when the ballot papers for 24 polling stations went missing.
