KCCA resolves to repossess Nateete Market

Kampala Capital City Authority has resolved to repossess Nateete Market opposed to earlier decisions by the legal department of KCCA that said the authority never had interest in the market.

 KCCA previous position to disown the market had caused controversy introducing new interested parties including RR Transporters Ltd who has an intention to own the market through a court order.

After various demonstrations by Nateete Market Vendors, KCCA Council resolved to host an emergence council session to deliberate on the position of the market or they risk losing the market to a private individual an investigation team was put in place to save the vendors.

In council today, both the KCCA political and technical team headed by the Lord Mayor Elias Lukwago and acting Executive Director Sam Sserunkuuma resolved to repossess the market.

Kampala Lord Mayor Elias Lukwago later communicated to the Vendors who pitch camped at the city hall awaiting the outcomes of today’s council meeting in regard to their market and confirmed that during their deliberations they have resolved to re-own the market but urged them to defend their property as they pursue legal measures for justice and pursue to rebuild the market.

Rubaga Mayor Owek Nnabosa Ssebugwawo has also appealed to the vendors not to put down arms until there is total resolute in regard to this market.
