Gen Katumba Wamala warns opposition against rhetoric

The Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) of the Uganda Army, General Edward Katumba Wamala has warned opposition politicians against rhetoric that could distabilise the country, saying they face severe consequences. Gen. Wamala is in Somalia for a four day official visit, during which he will also visit and interact with troops in Ceeljaale, Aribska and Mogadishu, as well as hold talks with the senior leadership of the Federal Government of Somalia. This is not the first time a high ranking army officer is warning politicians against fuelling violence in the country. Katumba’s predecessor, Gen Aronda Nyakairima at one time hinted on the possibility of the army taking over Parliament if politicians continued exhibiting “lack of seriousness.”
