FORMER UNRA HEAD OF LEGAL CHARGED IN ANTI-CORRUPTION COURT

The Former Legal Boss of Uganda National Roads Authority, Marvin Baryaruha is also charged before the Anti corruption court in relation to the Mukono-Katosi road saga.

Baryaruha who turned himself in following criminal summons faced 3 counts that include Influence peddling, Abuse of Office and corruption.

Court heard that between July and November/2013 Baryaruha neglected to professionally advise UNRA Management, and instead manipulated the process of award of tender and signing of the contract between UNRA and EUTAW construction company, for the upgrade of the said road, which saw payment of 24.7billion shillings to EUTAW, a company that lacked capacity to perform the contract.

He however denied the allegation before Grade one Magistrate Julius Borore, who granted him bail with orders to pay cash 12 million shillings, deposit his passport to court and his sureties sign anon cash bond of 100m shs to ensure he reports back to court on 15th/September.

Baryaruha is jointly charged with 5others including Minister without portfolio Abraham Byandala who have also honored their bail granted to them last week, and have been told to report back on the same date as IGG concludes its investigations into this case.
