EU Commissioner promises tougher stance against misuse of aid money.

The European Union wants stringent

measures to be taken against those

who steal public funds.

The European Commissioner for

International Cooperation and

Development, Neven Mimica who is

visiting the country says this is one

of the ways they will ensure that

funding given to the country is

channeled to the sectors it is

intended to benefit.

His comments come  at the time the

country continues to grapple with the

graft. The World Bank estimates that

about 500bn shillings meant for

service delivery is stolen annually.
