Daniel Ssejjoba Kalungu district speaker resigns

Daniel Ssejjoba, the Kalungu district Speaker has resigned. His resignation comes days after the Court of Appeal upheld a ruling reinstating his predecessor Raphael Kisekka. Ssejjoba was appointed to the post after Kisekka’s censure in 2012 but maintained three years of bickering, rejection and countless court battles. Judges Kibuuka Musoke, Margaret Oguli and Julio Acio, the Masaka High Court registrar issued three different court orders instructing Kalungu district to reinstate Kisekka and compensate him for unfair dismissal. The district challenged the orders on ground that the office was already occupied by another appointee; Daniel Ssejjoba. But today Daniel Ssejjoba announced that he would step down in recognition of the court order and he labeled his continuous stay an illegality.
