11 Makerere University students arrested.

11 Makerere University students are in police custody  following last night’s round up at the campus .

Police arrested the suspected ringleader of the ongoing violent protests at the university .

Gunshots were heard at the campus at night as police  moved into Lumumba Hall to identify culprits .

Reports suggest that Makerere Guild on Tuesday attempted  to oust the students’ President Gerald Bala’s  on grounds of incompetence. Balas supporters  however put up a stiff resistance threatening  violence.

This turn of events comes high on the heels of a violent  strike over the 100% tuition payment policy .

Police deployment remains heavy at the campus.
